Three physicians in consultation told my husband over thirty years ago that there was nothing more they could do for me. What two previous operations revealed I never learned, but they only left me worse each time. I lived in constant discouragement and fear of leaving our two small children. Then a neighbor came to see me and told me that I did not have to die, for I could be healed if only I would turn to Christian Science.

It seemed a gleam of light, and a practitioner was called. She came with a smile and the assurance that everything is possible to God and that as man is His idea, in reality I could express only good health, freedom, and happiness.

She asked me to repeat the Lord's Prayer over and over and to see how much good I could get from it, while she silently prayed. Before she left, I felt much relieved and benefited by her visit. She made three calls that week and then dismissed herself, telling me not to rely on her, but to study daily the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, use it, and rely absolutely on God. In ten days I was out of bed, resuming part of my housework, and a very quick healing followed. Within a month glasses, which I had worn for ten years, were laid aside.
