At a time in my experience when...

At a time in my experience when supply seemed very limited and uncertain, when worry and sorrow were daily companions, and the responsibility of providing for myself and two small children appeared to be imminent, this reference stood out to me one day as I studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly: "As the children of Israel were guided triumphantly through the Red Sea, the dark ebbing and flowing tides of human fear,—as they were led through the wilderness, walking wearily through the great desert of human hopes, and anticipating the promised joy,—so shall the spiritual idea guide all right desires in their passage from sense to Soul, from a material sense of existence to the spiritual, up to the glory prepared for them who love God" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 566).

A sense of assurance came to me at that time that I have never since lost. The way, for several years, seemed long and hard, but every need was met, and the children always had good homes and much human affection. Though I had to learn that God's children can never be separated from their Father-Mother or from each other as divine ideas—for it became necessary during this experience for me to live a thousand miles away from my little sons—when I arrived at the point where I could trust them completely to His care, then our home situation was most beautifully worked out.

Since that time our supply has been abundant, and although many adjustments had to be made and lessons learned in the establishment of our new home, our blessings have been, and continue to be, rich and full as we earnestly strive to let God govern instead of personal sense.
