Christian Science was offered to me many years ago at a time when I was passing through a period of great sorrow. When I first read that inspired book Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I could not understand a large part of it, but I made a second attempt, and gradually it came to be for me a pearl of great price.

At one time when I was spring cleaning, a chair on which I was standing to reach the top of a wardrobe slipped from under me. In clinging to the top of the wardrobe, I pulled it down with me. I was partly pinned underneath with one of my legs doubled under me. At first I was completely stunned, but as soon as I could collect my thoughts, I said to myself, "There are no accidents in God's kingdom," and I tried to realize that an idea of God could not be hurt by matter. However, the pain in my leg was great, and fear crept in, as I was alone in the house. After a while I was able to get to the telephone and ask for help from a Christian Science practitioner.

The next day I rested and read from Science and Health and found great comfort and help from its pages. One message particularly stood out. It was (p. 473), "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." The following day the healing was complete.
