THE HEALING GOVERNMENT OF GOD

One of the most oppressing mortal suggestions is that of helplessness. At the bedside of a beloved one who to material sense seems to suffer great pain, or when faced with what is believed to be an irretrievable situation involving the downfall of cherished hopes and expectations, mortals may be overwhelmed by a deep feeling of utter helplessness. But though they believe themselves forsaken, in this very extremity they can find Christian Science to be the Comforter which Christ Jesus promised to send to a tired humanity.

The teachings of Christian Science prove and establish the absolute healing fact that, as in reality the ideas of perfect Principle, we are at all times and under all circumstances under God's government, the all-powerful, all-blessing government of divine Love. Under the exclusive legislation of this government that which appears to cause helplessness and hopelessness, under whatever name it may parade, can in no way impede the demonstration of our rightful status of dominion as children of God.

However, to realize and enjoy fully the great blessings of this true and eternal status of man we must divest our consciousness of everything that is unlike God, good, and understand that sin, sickness, pain, grief, and helplessness are the impositions of a false, material sense of existence. Through revealing our true spiritual nature, Christian Science shows us that man is governed by the only power there is, God, and that he can at no time cease to be under the jurisdiction of this omnipotent, all-loving government. In the light of this unassailable truth, sin, sickness, and other threatening appearances of materialism are reduced to a common denominator, that of powerless nothingness.
