GIVING ENRICHES

Giving is profitable. This viewpoint, however, is not accepted by mankind in general, and giving is often looked upon as a loss to the giver. Yet in Christian Science we learn that true giving has its sure reward. As Christ Jesus said (Luke 6:38), "With the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

This statement and the Master's previous admonition and promise, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom," are demonstrable. It is essential, however, that those who are actuated by the desire to give should have a correct understanding of giving. Christian Science teaches that God is Spirit, divine Love; therefore man, God's offspring, made in His image and likeness, is spiritual and perfect. Since God is the Giver of all good, man can only express love, joy, peace, confidence, and all the other Godlike qualities.

As we come into this true inheritance through the study and application of Christian Science, our consciousness unfolds a great storehouse of eternal wealth with an inexhaustible source to draw upon—infinite Love, divine Mind, or God. The more we give out and use of this wealth the more we have, since only the used talents multiply.
