THE SWORD OF GIDEON
And
so it came to pass when Gideon
Blew on his trumpet that a sound arose
Like some vast murmur in the plain. The sun
Was yet to rise and in that watch the foes
Heard the lamp bearers cry with one accord,
"The sword of Gideon and the Lord." That night
Each man was in his place; the two-edged sword
Wrought victory for the chosen in His sight.
And so the host fled unto Zererath
And to the rim of Abel-meholah;
The arm of God was mightier than wrath,
The shouting trumpets spoke as had Jehovah
At times unto His people. In this hour
Truth is the two-edged sword and the Word power.
