THE FATHER'S BUSINESS

The desire to be in business is a natural one. It stirs youthful ambition, and many boys and some girls delight in having a paper route or other gainful activity as soon as they are able to do so.

Long ago a lad of twelve years with great spiritual acumen perceived that man's true business is expressing God. Hence he said (Luke 2:49), "I must be about my Father's business." He attained the acme of success in the Father's business, and the rules which he demonstrated in so doing are equally applicable to every human endeavor. One of the most essential rules is to realize the ever-presence and all-power of God and to identify oneself with the omniscience of this divine Principle, or Mind. Christ Jesus' practice of this rule to supply every human need that confronted him during his ministry made him the world's most successful businessman.

The Master gave his disciples another prime rule of successful business adventure when he said (Luke 5:4), "Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." These disciples, fishermen, were experiencing bad business. They had fished all night and had caught nothing. The abundance of fish when they obediently cast their nets again proved that willingness to let God govern brings the power of spiritual law to bear on human problems.
