It is the hallmark of great literature, and above all of the Bible, that it is inexhaustible.

The longer and the better we know it, the more surprises we find in it, and of all the texts which come to mind as sources of inspiration or consolation, perhaps that in which in the course only own life I have most notably learned to see layer after layer of truth gradually unfold is the famous sentence from St.Matthew, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
