TAKE UP THE SERPENT!

How grateful the Christian Scientist is for a fuller understanding of the spiritual truths of the Bible which Christian Science enables him to have. An incident in the experience of Moses, related in the first four verses of the fourth chapter of Exodus, recently brought fresh inspiration, and joyous unfoldment to one student. She saw more clearly than before that the Bible is our guide to happy, harmonious, useful living. She also saw how the lessons in this account can be practically applied to our everyday affairs.

The story is a familiar one. Moses had been called by God to lead the children of Israel out of their bondage to Pharaoh in the land of Egypt across the Red Sea into the land of Canaan. He protested that the Israelites would not listen to him nor believe that God had sent him to deliver them.

The account reads: "And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod."
