WORKING FOR THE WORLD

As we look around today, we see signs of unrest, disunity, lack, and uncertainty. Do we long to help humanity gain serenity, stability, and assurance and to bring about the fulfillment of the prophecy in Habakkuk (2:14), "The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea"?

Each student of Christian Science has the joyous privilege and solemn obligation of doing consecrated metaphysical work daily for the world. If we take the attitude that this work of unselfed prayer is being done by those with a deeper understanding of God, we are shirking our responsibility. It is an individual responsibility, and only as each one does his part humbly, patiently, and persistently, is he taking his place as a citizen of the world and aiding in establishing the kingdom of heaven on earth.

How shall we do this work? We must begin with God, the all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful Mind. We must declare with understanding that God, Soul, Spirit, Principle, Life, Truth, Love, is the perfect One, the Father and Mother of the universe, including man, and that man is the image and likeness, the reflection, of the one perfect creator. Man, therefore, exists in Spirit, not in matter. He is protected by divine Love and controlled by the one Mind.
