[Original testimony in German]

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and...

"Bless the Lord. O my soul, and forget not all his benefits," said the Psalmist. For all the good I have received, I sing praises to God. I am also grateful to Christian Science for showing me the right way.

I should like to relate one of the experiences I have had. As I was about to get on a streetcar, I struck my left leg with great force on one of the steps. I immediately began to suffer intense pain. During the trip I tried to realize that as the image and likeness of God, man could not suffer any evil; hence no such effects could be in evidence. I worked for several days on this problem, and the condition was bearable: I was able to go about my household duties. But then I was taken with such severe pain that I was unable to walk. My leg and foot were badly swollen. An open wound formed, and my leg was badly discolored. Evidently I had not been alert enough. When I saw that I was not overcoming the error myself, I asked a practitioner for help, and some relief was experienced right away.

Relatives tried to influence me to call in a doctor, remarking that there had already been a similar case in the family, when the patient had been confined to his bed for six months. Although it was certainly well meant, I recognized this advice as manifestly a suggestion of error. By rejecting thoughts of fear, I was able to cling the more firmly to Truth. Slowly, step by step, improvement took place. After about six weeks, thanks to Christian Science, I was restored and healed. These six weeks proved to be a blessing, for they compelled me to enter more deeply into the health-bringing teachings and nature of Christian Science and to study more thoroughly Mrs. Eddy's writings.
