THE TEST OF LOVE

All Christian peoples love and reverence Christ Jesus. He is their model, their Master, and their Way-shower. His teaching and practice reveal the perfect pattern of a perfect life, which is the natural heritage of the perfect man. He "was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin" (Hebr. 4:15). He went about doing good, healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and raising the dead. He taught the truth to the people. He helped and inspired them. He spoke with great authority, and what he said was clear, logical, and profound.

In simple language, accompanied by convincing proofs, he revealed the kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven. He brought heaven within reach of everyone and in doing so provided a key for the solution of all problems, social, civil, and religious. Had Christians wisely and consistently practiced his teachings, the fear of war would be no more, famine and destitution would yield to Love's abundance, and amity among nations would be as natural as the air we breathe.

The redemption of mankind through the Christ has been long delayed, owing in part to mortals' apathy and procrastination. But through the advent of Christian Science a great impetus has been given to Christ Jesus' teaching, and Christian Scientists, like their fellow Christians, turn in adoration to their great Way-shower to learn of him the way of Truth and to reinstate his healing works.
