I am grateful for a healing I had many years ago and for what I learned from it. It taught me to be more grateful for the good things that I have and for good health in particular. I had always enjoyed good health, but a time came when I was tempted to believe that I had lost it. I had just become a partner in a business that was out of my line and was also planning to build my home. These two things occupied a lot of my time and thought. A dry cough appeared which was very distressing to listen to, but which caused me little inconvenience as far as my work was concerned. It lasted for some time, and apart from hurriedly reading in the morning a portion of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly for the week, which was done more as a duty than from a desire for spiritual growth, I did nothing about it.

Eventually I found myself in bed, helpless with asthma. I had help from a Christian Science practitioner and was soon well, but after a while the trouble returned. I had further treatment, with the same good result. But again the condition returned. Through these experiences I learned many valuable lessons. Our hymns were a great help to me, especially No. 144 in our Hymnal:
