Permanent healing of eye trouble

Recently I realized for the first time the import of that story of the ten lepers as recorded in Luke's Gospel, where but one returned to give thanks. I was healed permanently of a so-called incurable eye trouble in the year 1924; but I have not until now got around to telling the story of my healing for our periodicals.

For seven years prior to 1924 I was in the hands of some of the best eye specialists in this part of the country. Near the end of that time one of them told me he could do nothing more for me, and he warned me that I would be blind in one eye before long and that the other eye would be affected. Knowing that my wife was interested in Christian Science, he asked me if she had ever urged me to try it. I answered, "Yes," and he remarked that he would try anything once. Thereupon I went to a Christian Science practitioner, but nothing came of it after three weeks' trial because I did not believe I could be healed. I realized later the significance of the account in Matthew 13:58, where it is recorded that Jesus "did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief."

In despair I returned to the medical specialist, who asked me if I thought I had given Christian Science a fair trial. I did not answer, for I knew that I had not. Again I went to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment, this time resolving to study it myself before I passed judgment. Within a month I was completely free from the eye trouble, and it has never come back.
