How a right purpose brought a rich reward of inspiration

LET'S VISIT BOSTON

Said a consecrated student to the writer: "Every Christian Scientist should visit Boston at least once. It will bring him closer to the movement, and bring the movement closer to him." First, of course, the sincere and honest desire for such a visit must be prompted by love for the Cause and prayer that through the visit he may receive a broader vision of the great revelation of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and through this receiving enrich his own field of endeavor.

At the time of the building of The Mother Church, Mrs. Eddy said (Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 319, 320), "No doubt must intervene between the promise and event; faith and resolve are friends to Truth; seize them, trust the divine Providence, push upward our prayer in stone,—and God will give the benediction." The student of Christian Science learns through his study of this great Science that right motive and true prayer go hand in hand.

"Desire is prayer," Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 1). Thus when this right motive in visiting Boston comes to one, he may be assured that the way will open up for him. Holding to the Biblical truth (Ps. 84:11), "No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly," enables him to overcome every obstacle which would obstruct the accomplishment of his right purpose. A Christian Scientist once made this statement: "When a right idea comes to one, it carries with it all that is necessary for its establishment, maintenance, and continuity." A student proved this to be true.
