Healing truth pondered; an abnormality disappears

I wish to express gratitude for the many blessings and healings that have come to me and mine through the study and application of Christian Science and the help of practitioners and friends.

In youth I had a growth under my tongue which was troublesome and at times painful. This condition continued until I reached my early twenties, when it became dormant. The growth remained through the years, but was not painful until about two years ago. I made a sincere effort to overcome this condition through Christian Science, but without success. One Sunday morning before church service I spoke of this difficulty to a member and was given some helpful thoughts and the following quotation from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (pp. 380, 381): "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God." I pondered this quotation prayerfully for some time and then realized that all sense of discomfort had vanished. I went about my duties at the church rejoicing that the law of God had annulled the law of mortal mind for me and I was free. Then I felt something loose in my mouth and removed a hard object about the size of a cherry seed. I have not, of course, had any further trouble from this source.

Christ Jesus, our great Wayshower, once said (Matt. 20:27), "Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant." To my mind, that honor may be justly accorded our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, not because of any desire on her part to be esteemed personally great, but because of her great love for humanity in what she has done and continues to do for all mankind. It is beyond my ability to express in words the gratitude I feel by reason of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am humbly grateful for Christian Science.—Benjamin McCuskey, Los Angeles, California.
