FIRST LOVE
Revelation 2:4
Be
faithful to first love—
To that great moment when the Christ
First speaks to human consciousness
And we respond with joyful recognition.
It is as if a door had opened wide,
Letting the light stream in.
There is no questioning or doubt,
Only the certainty that all is well.
Take warning from the church at Ephesus
That long ago deserted its first love,
And though with patience still it labored on,
How bitter was its loss. Its fading vision
Could no more discern the healing Christ, And those first works were lost to Ephesus.
O churches of this modern world today, Be faithful to first love.
