The question is occasionally presented to The Christian Science Board of Directors as to the advisability of distributing membership lists to the members of a Church of Christ, Scientist.

At the time of election of church officers, some churches have found it helpful to make available to the members a list of those eligible to office so that the names of such members may be known to the voters. Some churches post the list on a bulletin board, or on several bulletin boards, and open the church early enough for the members to examine the names before the business meeting. Other branches have the list typed, mimeographed, or multigraphed in the church office, and distribute copies to members on their arrival at church, collecting the copies at the close of the meeting.

In general, the printing of a membership list or its distribution to members before the date of the meeting is not recommended. The list should be thus handled, in any instance, only if the church or society can be assured that the list will not thereby fall into the hands of someone not entitled to it, who might use it for purposes other than those intended.
