The man next door was disagreeable... until Bobby turned to divine Love

"LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Bobby thought it was great fun to move to a new home and neighborhood. He was sure he was going to like it, for there were lots of children, and he loved to make new friends. But the first day he was in his new home he was disappointed, because the children played at the other end of the block. Not once did they come near his house.

So Bobby decided that the thing for him to do was to go and invite them to come to his house and play. The children told Bob they could not do that, because the man who lived next door to him didn't like children. He swore at them and ordered them to keep off his place. He also threatened to harm any dog that came on his grounds.

Now Bobby had two dogs that he loved very much, and when he heard this, he was very troubled. He had, however, always attended a Christian Science Sunday School and thus had learned that "God is love" (I John 4:16) and that He is everywhere. He knew it was right to love everyone, for he had been told that Christ Jesus said (Luke 10:27), "Thou shalt love... thy neighbour as thyself." Hetried very hard to show his neighbor that he loved him. But after he had tried for several days to make friends, the man still remained unfriendly, so Bobby went to his mother and told her all about his problem.
