Appendicitis yields to Science treatment
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28). For the great privilege of laboring in the vineyard of Christian Science, I wish to express my sincere gratitude. It is indeed holy work, and no matter what the task may be, one does find rest. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 519, 520), "The highest and sweetest rest, even from a human standpoint, is in holy work."
My first contact with the study of Christian Science came through curiosity on my part about its adherents and teachings. I was interested in the apparent sincerity of its students and was also eager to know if there was something in it that I myself could learn and benefit by. Not long after I began attending church services and lectures, I was healed of appendicitis through the help of a practitioner. Twelve hours after treatment was requested in Christian Science, I was able to walk out of the hospital where I had been awaiting an operation. Later I experienced the healing of typhoid fever after several days under observation in a college infirmary. With my further study and application of the truths revealed in the Bible and Science and Health, many and various false beliefs began to disappear and have continued to do so as more of the Godlike nature of man has been acknowledged.
Often when I have perceived, in some measure, a healing message contained in the writings of our Leader, or followed as nearly as I could the example set by our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, blessings have poured into my consciousness. Other members of my family have felt the benefits of this truth. One who was not at all interested in Christian Science was healed of tuberculosis and also of criticism of what she thought Science to be. Another was protected throughout four years of military service.
