Blood poisoning healed when hate is destroyed

How good God is! It is with deep gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I submit this testimony of some of the proofs of His love with which I have been blessed. When I was twelve, my mother, a devout. God-fearing woman, turned to Christian Science for physical healing. She disposed of a large chest of medicines and thereafter reared her five children by relying on God's goodness for their physical healings.

For over thirty-five years God has been my only physician. Although relying on Christian Science for healing, I made little apparent progress in understanding until, when I was nineteen, my Sunday School teacher urged me to read about the life of our beloved Leader. I read her biography, "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, her autobiography in "Retrospection and Introspection," and many references to her work in early issues of The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel. I was endeavoring to find what Mrs. Eddy refers to as the "true estimate of God's messenger" on page 560 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Through my reading, my love for the truth and my reverence for Mrs. Eddy increased. I felt sure that I now had found a true religion, and I believed sincerely in its power and efficacy. Many church positions were filled, and service in our Cause brought joy and inspiration. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and for class instruction.

Numerous healings have been experienced. During the First World War, I applied for entrance to a field artillery officers' training camp. Two physicians, one a well-known ear specialist, examined me at the time and stated that I had an ear ailment which permitted less than fifty per cent hearing. They said that the condition would grow worse and could be cured only by an operation. I was permitted to attend the camp, but I immediately procured the help of a Christian Science practitioner. Thanks to her work, in about two weeks I was healed. Some weeks later, upon graduating from the training camp, I was again carefully examined by physicians, and my hearing was pronounced perfect; and it has remained so.
