Blessings received during Army service

It is with a heart filled with gratitude for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science that I give thanks to God for revealing this truth to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who so unselfishly gave it to the world.

During four years in the Army, which included active service both in the Pacific Islands and in Italy, I was wonderfully protected from illness, accidents, and direct enemy action, and I know that others with me were also helped on many occasions.

I am grateful for the provision made by The Christian Science Board of Directors in establishing Christian Science Rest Centers, where help was always lovingly given by Wartime Ministers, librarians, and volunteer Wartime Workers. The kindness shown by all Workers in Italy was indeed wonderful, and I had many opportunities for rest and study at the Rest Center in Rome and at the church in Florence, where such good work was done.
