Testimony of Healing October 1, 1949 Issue

Soon after some of our family first became interested in Christian Science many years ago, a young brother became ill with malarial fever. As we lived in a small town and no Christian Science practitioner lived near, I decided to read the Lesson-Sermon as given in our Christian Science Quarterly. The subject for that week was "Soul and Body." The outstanding thought to me was on page 467 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Spirit, Soul, is not confined in man, and is never in matter." The brother was immediately healed and never had a return of the fever.

At another time my son came home from school one evening and said that a friend had been taken to the hospital with appendicitis. Very shortly he manifested the same symptoms that his friend had. It was shown to him how he was being influenced by mental suggestion. By reading page 211 of Science and Health in its entirety he was completely healed.

It is such a joy to know we always have with us a workable plan for solving our everyday problems. For this knowledge of God's all-power and ever-presence. I am most grateful. As we study the life of Mrs. Eddy, we see how pure she was and how well-qualified to give us this religion of Love.
