Truth destroys temper held to be hereditary

Many times during my years of study of Christian Science I have received encouragement and inspiration through reading testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals. They have helped me to rise above suggestions of lack and discouragement. I am truly grateful that when I have been obedient to the Father's voice, the way to go forward has always been opened. The earnest study of the Bible and of the works of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, particularly the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has shed a new light on the Bible and has brought to me a clearer perception of what God is.

I have had many physical and mental healings during the years. Some of the physical difficulties healed were bronchitis, abscesses, headaches, and laryngitis. A healing for which I am most grateful is that of so-called hereditary temper, against which I had struggled in vain before I took up the study of this Science. Through the help of a practitioner I lost the fear of it and so was healed.

I am grateful for all the activities of the Christian Science movement, for the literature, and in particular for The Christian Science Monitor. I am grateful that I was "able to stand against the wiles of the (Eph. 6:11) when the temptation came to reduce my subscriptions during some of the lean years. The need was always met. Many times I have been lifted out of fear and worry by reading something in the Monitor.
