It is never too late to turn to God and claim one's birthright as His idea

THE BASIS FOR RIGHT DECISIONS

Today there is a pressing need for making Christianity practical, and Christian Science shows us how to do this. Its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, gave the writer her first comprehensive concept of God as Love, Mind, Life. This concept of Deity enabled her to understand how a God who is Love can be everywhere present, and this everywhereness of Love, understood, has been found most sustaining at all times.

Science and Health also brought to this student her first glimpse of the spiritual fact that man is the image and likeness of God, spiritual and perfect. She was well acquainted with the declaration (Gen. 1:27), "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him," but it had never occurred to her to claim this as her own true birthright. When she glimpsed this spiritual fact, she began to express its invigorating and health-giving influence. Everyone who knew her saw her healing. A great joy lighted her countenance, and bodily freedom was immediately apparent.

She now finds that the acknowledgment of God as Love and Mind, and man as God's likeness, incorporeal, spiritual, eternal, is basic in the establishment of harmony, both mental and physical. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 259), "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration." To dwell frequently and at length on the fact of the present perfection of God and man awakens thought to an increasing realization of the freedom of true being.
