All invited to join chorus of praise at Christian Science testimony meetings. True gratitude shown to be God-inspired

"A LOUDER SONG"

On page 568 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes: "For victory over a single sin, we give thanks and magnify the Lord of Hosts. What shall we say of the mighty conquest over all sin? A louder song, sweeter than has ever before reached high heaven, now rises clearer and nearer to the great heart of Christ; for the accuser is not there, and Love sends forth her primal and everlasting strain."

Considered as a whole, Wednesday testimony meetings held in Christian Science churches in many parts of the world are as a song of gratitude which rises each successive week "clearer and nearer to the great heart of Christ." At each service new healings are reported. The incidents themselves may fade from human memory, but not so the recognition of Truth which made those healings possible. Every testimony is an undeniable indication that more and more good is being brought to light, and thereby more praise is given to God. Taking part in one of these meetings is like being a member of a great chorus from which a magnificent, never-ending song is flowing, rising in praise of God, who is All.

Just as a choir singer spontaneously and eagerly enters the polyphony at the appointed time, so each student of Christian Science, invited and called upon to share in the mighty song of thanksgiving, does so with unselfed gladness. Because a grateful thought is a receptive thought, he who listens with gratitude in his heart will find that his needs are being met through the truths expressed by others. Because true gratitude is God-inspired, it possesses in large measure the perfection, joy, and harmony of divine Mind, thus bringing ease and poise to him who testifies. Such a one will find himself contributing by reason of divine prompting rather than through any burden-some sense of obligation, embarrassment over a long silence, pride of personal accomplishment, or other such motives.
