With a grateful heart I give testimony...

With a grateful heart I give testimony to the satisfactory working out of a financial problem which it took our family several years to solve. During this period we realized to the best of our ability that whatever it was necessary for us to know would be revealed, because man reflects the all-knowing Mind, God. I am grateful for the practitioner who stanchly upheld my faith with the conviction that the reason for each delay would be revealed in due time, for "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," as our Leader says (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494).

Our problem was that of making a decided change in our mode of living. Our son, who had graduated from an agricultural college, was getting his crop experience on a scientifically-run farm when we decided to buy a farm of our own and have him manage it. One day during our thorough search we found a farm that seemed to all the family to be exactly what we desired. In negotiating for it we found that it had been placed on the market without the consent of the real owner, who, when approached, refused to sell. This was a great disappointment to us. We looked at other farms, but could not find any that satisfied us. We even placed offers on two, only to have them sold suddenly to other buyers. This proved to be divine protection, for shortly afterwards the farm we liked so well was again put up for sale. However, it was being offered at a higher price and for cash only. This presented a problem, for we already owned a good deal of property, which we found could not be turned into cash at that time. We learned that we could not get a farm mortgage, for it was necessary to be in production over a given time before that was possible.

With the practitioner working to know that there was a right solution, it was proved that "there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known" (Matt. 10:26). One night we opened a box that had not been opened for years. It contained evidences of losses, worthless stocks, old notes for money lent, and so forth. Among the papers were several notes for personal loans, each for a large sum. My husband had lent a friend money to educate his two sons, one of whom was now a doctor and the other a lawyer. He had helped to set up two friends in business, and they were now prosperous. My husband had never asked for this money. We spoke about it to the practitioner, who said that "in the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply" (Science and Health, p. 206), and that repayment of the loans would bless the borrowers also. My husband spoke to these men. Not only did he find each very grateful for the past favors received, but two were glad to repay immediately and insisted on paying interest also.
