That Christian Science is Science...

That Christian Science is Science and is Christian was proved to me many years ago when I was instantly healed of a disease of long standing. When I was a baby, the doctor told my mother she would have to watch my diet always, as I had a weak stomach. This my mother faithfully did, and I continued in the same way; then years later, when I was a mother of two little boys, it seemed as if I could not live. Diets, exercise, treatments, and many doctors could not heal the difficulty. I was weak, sick, and discouraged, and when my sister once more recommended Christian Science, I thought, It surely cannot hurt me, if it does not help me; and I called a practitioner for help. In answer to my question as to what to eat, the practitioner assured me I could eat anything. "Even white bread?" I asked, to which she simply replied, "Yes." Fear of food and a distressed stomach disappeared, and my body functioned normally, in spite of the fact that some doctors had said that because of displaced organs I could not possibly have normal elimination.

Previous to this I had attended a Christian Science church with my sister over quite a period. I thought it a beautiful religion, but I also thought that my physical difficulty was real.

After my healing I diligently studied the Bible together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, trying to understand them. I studied especially the ninety-first Psalm and a statement from Science and Health (p. 151), "Fear never stopped being and its action," two references the practitioner gave me when I called for help.
