During the last war, when I was a soldier in France. I had a quick healing of extreme pain. While I was riding in a Sherman tank, its jarring motion caused the open hatch of the turret to fall on my head, breaking off two of my front teeth, exposing the nerves, and cutting my lips quite badly. Almost immediately a clear sense of the loveliness of Love and the beauty of Soul came to me, and all pain was destroyed. The physicians in the various aid stations and the dentist who later in the day removed the teeth marveled that I had no pain and did not need any morphine.

Both before and after the above experience I have had physical healings through the application of the teachings of Christian Science. When I was a small child, I was healed of a condition diagnosed by a physician as appendicitis. On two occasions while in college I had all the symptoms of influenza in the evening and through the help of a Christian Science practitioner was in class the next morning, completely healed. The last healing impressed me very much, for my friends who were under medical care for the same difficulty suffered considerable discomfort for a much longer time.

The first healing that I had through my own efforts was of constipation, which I had had from early childhood. The truths that I was able to demonstrate were learned in the Christian Science Sunday School.
