LETTERS TO THE PRESS

from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Southern California The Desert Trail, Twentynine Palms

I should like to thank you for publishing in a recent issue the kindly worded biographical sketch about Mary Baker Eddy. I am sure that you and the readers of your paper would welcome a clarification of one thought expressed in the article.

"Healing the sick," said the writer, "is to be done through the mind rather than through matter (medicines)." As used in this statement, "mind" evidently refers to the human mind. Had the author capitalized the "M" so that it would mean the divine Mind, or God, then the statement would he correct. As it stands, and as other portions of the article read, the impression is given that the human mind is the heeding agent.
