"GOD IS WORKING HIS PURPOSE OUT"

The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge gave permission to The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, to use in its Hymnal a rousing poem by Arthur C. Ainger, the first line of which reads, "God is working His purpose out" (Hymnal, No. 82). What an inspiring thing it is to hear in The Mother Church in Boston several thousand voices raised in this great song of hope and courage! Twice in the first stanza we are assured that God, who Science teaches is all-powerful good, is indeed "working His purpose out," and the stanza adds that

Nearer and nearer draws the time,
The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.
