In looking back over my experiences...

In looking back over my experiences in Christian Science, I find that physical healings have been the smallest portion of my blessings. I have been protected on long trips, guided to a right sense of home on four occasions when conditions were considered hopelessly crowded, and led to pleasant and profitable employment when, to human sense, I was not adequately prepared for such work.

Words alone could not possibly express my gratitude for the healing of false traits of character. As a young girl I was not very loving, appreciative, or kind; I was constantly depressed, resentful, and critical, and I was plagued with a great sense of inferiority. Although I was brought up in Christian Science and attended the Sunday School at times, I did not realize that I was being mesmerized by these errors and thus robbed of my happiness.

After my marriage I had a great desire to know more about God and to prove the efficacy of Christian Science for myself. I knew it was the truth, but to make it practical I must demonstrate it. I knew that as I used my understanding, it would be enlarged and illumined. I realized that I needed to express more love, and I had been taught that "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 454), and also that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (ibid., p. 494).
