I wish to express my gratitude...

I wish to express my gratitude for the many healings and blessings received by me and mine during the twenty years that I have been relying upon the care and protection of divine Love as taught in Christian Science.

For a demonstration made soon after I learned of this Science, I am particularly grateful. The mortgage on my home was due for renewal. I received notice from the company holding this mortgage that it would not renew, because they considered the property financially overloaded. I immediately began to make inquiries among several other real estate and mortgage companies. Everywhere I received the same response, namely, that the property was overloaded. I recognized that this was my opportunity to prove what I had been preaching, and I began to work faithfully in Christian Science on this problem.

It came to me clearly that the so-called overload was not on the property, but in my own consciousness, and that there was the place from which it had to be removed. I worked for uncovering. I saw that I was holding resentment, because of a five-dollar item, against a certain individual who had assisted me three years previously when I had to go through the usual procedure of renewing this mortgage. This small item of resentment had grown into thousands of dollars in the terms of this mortgage and was obstructing my progress. I saw the resentment for what it was. It was just a polite way of saying I was hating my brother. I then recalled what our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, says (p. 113), "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." I also remembered that John says (I John 4:20), "He that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?" and (verse 8), "God is love." Nothing can resist the power of Love; it is the antidote for hate in every form.
