My first experience with Christian Science...
My first experience with Christian Science was during the influenza epidemic in 1918. I was critically ill, and we were unable to secure the services of a medical nurse. A friend in another city heard of our need and offered to come and stay with us until I was better. This friend was a Christian Scientist, but we knew nothing of the religion at that time.
The Monday morning she arrived, I had lost my sight. My friend asked me if I would like to have her read to me from the Bible. I said I would, because I had loved the Bible from childhood, although there was little of it that I really understood. She read the ninety-first Psalm and repeated the Lord's Prayer, then left me to rest. By the middle of the afternoon I was much improved, my sight having become normal, and by Thursday of that week I was completely free.
