I wish to acknowledge the healing power of Christian Science and to praise God by giving this testimony.

I have had many healings of discord and disease, but the outstanding one was that of a kidney disorder. What the condition was I do not know, for it was never named. The kidneys acted continually for several days, and the pain seemed unbearable. I called a Christian Science practitioner for help, but did not improve. The argument that I needed surgery presented itself, and although I continued with Christian Science treatments this argument persisted. After much struggling I called by long-distance telephone a Christian Science nurse who is a relative. In my extreme sense of fear, for it did seem that I could not continue in that state much longer, I asked her what I should do, knowing that she would advise me correctly. Her words remain with me yet: "This is a testing time; only stand. Materia medica could do nothing for you except administer sedatives."

Then and only then did I know my way. I replied that I did love God and Christian Science, and that they had never failed me before, so I would stand! A great sense of humility and trust flooded my consciousness, and I was really prepared to stand. The nurse told me to call her again if there was no improvement by the next day, and she would come to me. I left the telephone and returned to my bed. At that moment I felt the pain leave. Since I had taken my stand for God, the work was completed, and a very quick healing followed. This experience was a beautiful lesson to me.
