RIGHT HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

Fundamental to the demonstration of harmony in human relationships is the understanding of man's true identity as the child of God, and from this standpoint alone can harmony be universally established. The perfect relationship between God, divine Principle, and His spiritual idea, man, always has been, is now, and ever will be intact. The Christian Scientist learns to see and demonstrate this fact, and as his understanding of Truth and Love unfolds, he manifests an increasing sense of harmony in his human environment. It is essential that the reflection of Truth and Love be manifested in right relationships in our daily contacts in church, home, and business, in order that the power of Truth and Love may eventually be felt in world affairs.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (pp. 102, 103), "Christian Science despoils the kingdom of evil, and pre-eminently promotes affection and virtue in families and therefore in the community." Again she says (p. 31), "Jesus acknowledged no ties of the flesh." He recognized Spirit, God, as his Father, and those who did the will of his Father as his mother and his brethren.

Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, unfolded to mortals the basic scientific fact of man's unity with God. In pondering the minutiae of Jesus' daily life on earth, as recorded in the Gospels, the Christian Science student can see revealed in detail the highest concept of man as God's idea. How practical was Jesus in his demonstration of Love! As he went about doing good, he met the human need—comforting the human heart, healing the sick, releasing the sinner, raising the dead. In St. John's Gospel is recorded an incident of unsurpassed compassion and tenderness. When Mary, the mother of Jesus, and John, the beloved disciple, were standing together at the foot of the cross, Jesus asked Mary to look upon John as her son and asked John to take Mary as his mother. And we read (John 19:27), "From that hour that disciple took her unto his own home."
