Hutchinson, Kansas (First Church).
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Hutchinson, at 1400 North Main, has been dedicated.
This English style stone structure was completed in 1931. In 1899 the first Christian Science services in Hutchinson were conducted at 126 East Sherman. In 1902 the group became a recognized Christian Science church and was incorporated under the laws of Kansas.
The church met from 1902 to 1906 in the World Building at 15½ South Main and from 1906 to 1911 in Century Hall at First and Main, where the Wiley Building now stands. In 1911 a frame church was constructed at 1400 North Main, where the present church building stands. In 1927 it was decided to build the present stone church, and during the period of construction members met at the Women's Civic Center.
