My consciousness has long been...

My consciousness has long been filled with thoughts of gratitude for the Science of Christianity, which Mary Baker Eddy revealed in her textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." and also for the Christian Science movement, which she founded so securely through the Manual of The Mother Church. I am thankful that the Christian Science periodicals give us the opportunity to put these thoughts of gratitude into published words. It is a joy to have the inspiration of membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and the revelation received from class instruction.

Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet even human need," became emblazoned on my consciousness when I saw it inscribed on a wall on the occasion of my first visit to a Christian Science church. The testimonies given at that Wednesday evening testimony meeting were filled with practical thoughts which strongly indicated that this Science was a religion that could meet all human need. Testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals, some copies of which were given to me following that first meeting, further established the proof and utility of Mrs. Eddy's inspiring statement.

I began to read and study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, the periodicals published by The Christian Science Publishing Society, and all of Mrs. Eddy's writings. Each of these brought daily inspiration and direction. Progress toward an understanding of divine Love at times seemed slow, but always there was a feeling of hope and encouragement. Unhappy human experiences which occurred while I yet seemed far from a demonstrable understanding of Truth were healed through the help of practitioners. This brought me again and again a clearer sense of the presence of divine Love.
