Physical healings through the application of Christian Science in my life have been numerous. In particular, I should like to express gratitude for an experience which occurred whilst I was serving with the armed forces in India.

A condition was pronounced present by two medical officers for which they said there was no cure save a surgical operation. Help was sought from and lovingly given by a Christian Science volunteer Wartime Worker. The healing was slow but afforded me a strand opportunity for gaining greater spiritual understanding. Eventually, when all fear had been banished from my consciousness, pain vanished overnight, and complete freedom resulted. A little later, another medical officer confirmed the fact that there was no trace of the original condition.

While serving in India for two and a half years I relied absolutely on Truth for guidance and protection, and complete freedom from all tropical disease was maintained. I was stationed in one of the hottest parts of the country where, during the summer months, heat exhaustion is prevalent. Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, speaks in her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 (p. 17) of the wisdom of being willing to wait on God, of loving all, and of squaring one's accounts hourly. She writes, "Then thy gain outlives the sun, for the sun shines but to show man the beauty of holiness and the wealth of love." By holding steadfastly to the phrase, "The sun shines but to show man the beauty of holiness and the wealth of love," and ignoring the recommended material precautions, I experienced no discomfort whatever.
