LOVE RESTORES THE BALANCE
In Christian Science we are learning to cast all our thoughts into the scales of Spirit, God, good, and to place nothing in the scales of matter, evil. We are taught to accept only loving, pure, selfless, spiritual ideas as real and substantial and to treat evil beliefs as mythical and insubstantial. The writer of Proverbs put it simply and tersely when he said (Prov. 16:11), "A just weight and balance are the Lord's: all the weights of the bag are his work."
The full weight of thought and endeavor should be thrown on the side of Mind, Spirit, divine Principle, God, the only cause and creator. Then the material senses are seen as counterfeiting the spiritual and true sense of creation. Matter is exposed as an illusion of material sense and consequently without weight in the scales of divine reality. Spirit is acknowledged as All-in-all, and a perfect balance on the side of God is thereby established. That God's will is "done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10) Christian Science reveals as a present fact and enables us to know and prove.
Willfully or ignorantly mortals accept the evil suggestions of sin and disease in their myriad forms, and woe comes as the result. What joy and gratitude can be ours as we learn through Christian Science to claim our God-given power and prerogative to reject these evil suggestions as unreal and powerless. As we utilize the spiritual understanding of the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil, we yield to the spiritual idea of Life, which assures us that in reality we are indeed the beloved sons and daughters of God, ever in His care, ever the expression of His divine and perfectly balanced nature. No wonder sin and disease fall off like an unwanted cloak!
