SPIRITUAL IDEAS GIVE DAILY SUPPLIES

In a testimony given in a Christian Science church at a Wednesday evening meeting the experience of a business executive was told. During the depression of the 1930's he had lost position, home, and courage. In desperation he turned to Christian Science. The practitioner whose help he sought assisted him in gaining an understanding of the true meaning of substance and supply by pointing out the fact that God is All-in-all—the only cause— and that man is the image and likeness of God.

Man, being the reflection of God or good, can have only good. Any other sense of selfhood, no matter how convincing the material evidence arguing for it, is only an illusion of mistaken material thought. Man is eternally maintained by God, good, and knows no need.

The practitioner asked the man to consider Mary Baker Eddy's words (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for tomorrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment." He was told to go forth and learn to discern spiritual ideas.
