Love's Power

Love gave to blind and deaf their sight and hearing:
At midnight hour it set the prisoners free:
Restored the cripple at the pool Bethesda;
Forgave the dying thief upon the tree.

Love scatters oases in desert places:
Weaves purest joy from sorrow's tangled thread:
Casts shining rays across earth's darkest shadows;
And feeds the multitude with living bread.
