Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Burlington, Iowa (First Church).

First Church of Christ. Scientist, Burlington, was formally dedicated on Sunday morning. May 12, 1946, during the regular service. A historical sketch was read by the First Reader, and follows in part:

"Interest in Christian Science was first awakened in Burlington in 1887 through the healing of a number of local residents, and for several years a group of seekers after Truth met in homes for Sunday services. In 1893 increased interest led to the renting of a room in the Masonic Temple at Fifth and Jefferson Streets for the holding of services.
