Many years ago, because of my mental and physical condition, a physician advised me to go away somewhere and not come back until I felt like it. I could not do this, for there were two others who depended upon me for support. It was then that I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science and sought the help of a practitioner.

My thought was very dark, and I responded slowly. One Sunday morning, however, during the church service, this thought suddenly came to me: "Some day, you too shall bear witness to the healing power of Truth," and this indeed proved true. My mental state greatly improved, and it was sometime during the first six months of joyous, active service as a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church that I realized I had been healed of a supposedly incurable disease which had caused the passing on of one of my parents. During the time the practitioner had been working to free me from false beliefs of heredity, I was also healed of nearsightedness and blurred vision that had persisted since childhood as the result of a diseased eye condition.

Shortly before the recent war came to a close, we saved our gasoline allotment and took a trip around the island. A pain in my foot which had been bothersome for a day or so grew worse, and I was forced to remove my shoe. Opening a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I read (p. 368), "Because matter has no consciousness or Ego, it cannot act; its conditions are illusions, and these false conditions are the source of all seeming sickness." Throughout the day I held to this and other statements of truth contained in the textbook.
