Atomic Energy
A constant topic of discussion these days is the atomic bomb. On this subject, as on all others, Christian Science sheds its penetrating light. In her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 368), "The greatest wrong is but a supposititious opposite of the highest right." Then let us see the right of which the atomic bomb is the opposite.
It might be said that Christian Science enters the dream of life, intelligence, and substance in matter to end it and to awaken men to deathless reality. To end it; but how, and in what way? Through transformation, for Christ, Truth, is the Saviour. That means salvation now, for to this age and to this planet has come the saving truth of Christian Science.
The suppositional opposite of this saving truth is the claim of matter to destroy. Someone has said that error is always too late, because Truth is always first in the field and must be first, since error is always and only the suppositional opposite of Truth, always negative, never originator. Now what has Christian Science to say on the subject of Truth's supremacy? It teaches that Truth is the master of error and with simple logic insists that if God, Spirit, is infinite and omnipresent, then matter is without power or presence.
