Daily my respect for and gratitude to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, grows, and I appreciate more fully her wonderful service to all mankind in giving us Christian Science.

When I was about eight years old, I contracted a bone disease in my left ankle from which I suffered for a year and a half. During this time the condition spread upwards to the shin bone and operations were performed to try to arrest the bone decay. It grew steadily worse, however, until finally the attending doctor told my parents that a much more drastic operation would have to be performed. An older sister who had heard of Christian Science urged my mother to try it before agreeing to this next operation. Reluctantly my parents agreed to do so.

I shall always remember my first visit to the practitioner, how lovingly she explained that God is Love, and that I would be able to walk again. That very night all pain ceased, and I slept comfortably the entire night. My mother was greatly impressed with this prompt result, for she had spent many sleepless nights with me. I started walking immediately, and the two incisions which were open and draining at the start of the Christian Science treatment were completely healed within three months. Since then I have enjoyed all sports, including roller skating, ice skating, and tennis, and for twenty years I have been in a profession that necessitates standing for ten to fourteen hours a day.
