In one of the Christian Science...

In one of the Christian Science programs over the radio I heard the following two sentences: "A grateful man counts his blessings," and (II Cor. 9:15), "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." For the blessings received since my entrance into Christian Science, I am truly grateful to God, and to our beloved Leader for her discovery of God's gracious gift, the truth, in this age.

It was in June of the year 1895 that my first healing in Christian Science occurred and the light of Truth first dawned upon my consciousness. It marked the beginning of my experience of "the new birth," the awakening from the dream of life in matter. I consider it the greatest of all my blessings. I can truthfully say, "Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness" (Science and Health, p. 246). Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 15): "The new birth is not the work of a moment. It begins with moments, and goes on with years."

When I found Christian Science I had been suffering for a year or more from a very annoying condition of the feet that came on after I had spent seven years as a saleswoman. Besides having to be on my feet most of the day, I had a mile or more to walk to and from the store four times a day, which added to my suffering. I am happy to say I was healed of this trouble in less than two weeks by Christian Science treatment. I often think how abruptly I answered a customer the first time she attended our Sunday church service and, surprised to find me there, asked, "And what brought you here?" I quickly answered, "My feet." They had, in both senses of the word.
