Concerning Christian Science Wartime and Postwar Activities

[From a Christian Scientist in Austria]

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." In seeming distress I have often experienced the truth of these words. And now, thanks to the kindness of The Mother Church, I have received as a gift the Church Manual. "No and Yes," and "Retrospection and Introspection." by Mary Baker Eddy, for which I am deeply grateful. I had to renounce all these books during the war, but it was soon possible for me to procure another copy of the textbook, and this proved to me that nothing needful can be taken away from us and that we are always supplied spiritually.

I am also profoundly grateful to The Mother Church, and to all Christian Scientists, for the package of food received. I have experienced so often that just at the right moment Love supplied that of which I was in need. The experiences of the past years have been very profitable for us Scientists. We grew in love and patience, knowing that we were protected in danger, knowing that God never deserts His children and that the time would again come when we should be able to practice our religion openly. When this time did arrive, all the scattered sheep met together again to partake in the reconstruction of our beloved church. Each one brought more love, more fidelity, more confidence, and more gratitude.
