My testimony is one of grateful...

My testimony is one of grateful acknowledgment of the blessings received during the past nine years through the study and application of Christian Science. My interest in Science was awakened by the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy while I was living in the home of a woman who owned a copy.

For years I had suffered from stomach trouble, not being able to eat solid food without discomfort. The condition was aggravated by extreme nervousness and sleeplessness. The healing came about gradually, with the help of practitioners after many tests of my sincerity. The citation from Science and Health (p.167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized," was a challenge to depend entirely on Truth.

Some time later I was completely healed of seriously infected ears. The pain was intense for days, and I was unable to understand ordinary conversation. During this experience I tried to realize the truth contained in the statement (ibid., p. 393). "Have no fear that matter can ache, swell, and be inflamed as the result of a law of any kind, when it is self-evident that matter can have no pain nor inflammation." I clung to the realization that hearing is not dependent on a material organism. The practitioner pointed out that discernment, understanding, and hearing are spiritual, and that these qualities cannot be diseased. The condition cleared up entirely after two or three weeks, but I was able to go to business each day during that time.
