Port Jervis, New York (First Church).

Dedication services of First Church of Christ. Scientist, Port Jervis, 20 East Main Street, were held on Sunday morning and afternoon, June 9, 1946. In addition to the regular service, a brief historical sketch of the church was read at each service substantially as follows:

"First Church of Christ, Scientist, Port Jervis, had its beginning when a small group of interested persons met together in a private home in this city on Easter Sunday, 1908, to read the Lesson-Sermon from the Bible and 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy. On February 7, 1913, this group organized itself into a society.

"In February,1925, Christian Science Society became a regular incorporated church under the religious laws of the state of New York and received its state seal.

"On July 21,1920, the members purchased the present property. The dwelling on this property was formerly a residence and was remodeled in order to make it suitable for church purposes."
